TQ5739 : Disused drinking fountain on Tunbridge Wells Common
near to Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, Great Britain

Disused drinking fountain on Tunbridge Wells Common
Historically, Tunbridge Wells Common developed as lowland heath and until the end of the 19th Century it had almost no tree cover except for those trees deliberately planted, often to mark Royal visits. In the early 20th century the grazing that had maintained the landscape died out, leaving woodland to develop, as seen here. This drinking fountain is on the north side of Langton Road, opposite Major York's Road. The drinking fountain was on the other side facing the path.
