Cassidy's (1), Carran, Co. Clare
This is a public house and restaurant run by the Cassidy family, who have run a pub and grocery business in the area since before 1830. In 1956 the pub was relocated to the present building. According to the pub's informative website, the building was originally a Royal Irish Constabulary barracks dating from the 1840's. In 1920 it was burned down by the Irish Volunteers but later it was restored and used as a Garda (police) barracks. This is believed to be the only barracks in Ireland where you can buy a pint!
