The site of the Ponc Isa' Braich Mill
This mill, sited at Ponc Isa' Braich (lowest gallery of Braich), was one of the two giant mills of Dinorwig Quarry. The other was Sied Fawr Muriau which stood in what is today is the outlet/inlet pool of the Hydro-Electric station. Each had 108 sawing tables. Braich was older than Muriau by a year and five months. There were no dressing machines in either 'sied'. At Braich the dressing was done on the individual galleries above, though there was a large concentration of 'waliau' - open fronted sheds for splitting and dressing of roofing slates, on the gallery immediately above the mill. This photo is taken looking north-westwards in the direction of the extraction area of the quarry.
