SO5270 : Parkland, Ashford Carbonel

taken 24 years ago, near to Ashford Carbonell, Shropshire, England

Parkland, Ashford Carbonel
Parkland, Ashford Carbonel
Many of the trees have aged and died, but this is still recognisable as parkland around a country house. 1960's bungalow development around the periphery.
The hornbeam under the rainbow has since died. There was an attempt a few decades ago to buy the tree as the timber is used for engineering purposes. It was required for repairs to Ashford Mill. As one of the few parkland trees remaining the offer was declined. This was before the days of Tree Preservation Orders.

Soon after the photograph was taken, the tree died. Cause unknown.
