Hattersley
Construction of the Hattersley housing estate was first started in the late 1950s; it was built in the green valley between Harrop Edge and Werneth Low in an area that’s been known as Hattersley for hundreds of years. In recent years some demolition and new building has taken place. In the bottom right hand quarter of the photograph the M67 and a tunnel under it can be seen, the large building across the fields in the top right is Alder Community High School, because of the foreshortening effect of the telephoto lens the distance between them appears less than it actually is.
