Galleting in a cottage wall at Witley (3) - with wheelie bins
Galleting in a cottage wall at Witley (3) - with wheelie bins
Galleting - decorating the mortar courses of a building with pebbles or chips of stone - is an ancient tradition, which may once have been seen as a safeguard against witchcraft. Colour-coded wheelie-bins have been devised as a means of fending off threats more recently recognised.

Seen along the side wall of a cottage by the main village street.
