The Olympic Route Network, set up to speed transfer between Games venues for athletes and Games personnel, includes dedicated lanes which will be for the use of authorised users only. These appeared on the Euston Road in early July 2012 and at the time of this photograph were not yet in force; their effect in the rush hour, squeezing two lanes' worth of traffic into one, was nervously awaited.
