Former level crossing near Carr Farm
Former level crossing near Carr Farm
This was only ever an agricultural byway crossing the former Great Central Railway line to Lincoln. However, it still sports a beautiful set of restored or reconstructed gates. The railway is now part of the Sustrans cycleway network, although this is not formally designated as a right of way.
The byway is designated as a bridleway on either side of the level crossing, but between the gates is only a footpath. Presumably you have to carry your bike or horse across!
