Stretton Watermill
Stretton Watermill is a working watermill which stands by Carden Brook. The mill is a grade II listed building and the mill machinery is considered to be of national importance. There has been a mill on the site since the middle of the 14th century. The present mill building dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, and was extended in the 18th and 19th centuries. The adjacent stables date from the 19th century. Commercial production of flour ceased in 1959 on the retirement of the last miller. The mill machinery was restored by Cyril Boucher in 1967, with partial funding from the Science Museum, and the site was opened as a working museum by Cheshire County Council. It is now operated by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
