The New Road
The New Road
Looking south along the A6076 near the Causey Arch. Officially the Causey Road, this section is universally known locally as the New Road, although it's not that new now. It was built in the 1930's to provide a better route into Stanley than the tortuous road through Beamish Burn, and was much wider and straighter than most roads at that time.
