Borvemor Cottages Self Catering Blackhouse
Borvemor Blackhouse, or "Tigh Dubh" as it is called in Gaelic was built in the year 1993, and is the first traditional "Blackhouse" to be built for over a century. Using the age-old materials of stone, wood and thatch, the classic shape of the dry-stone island house took shape in just 32 days and was completed within four months and subsequently received the Pinnacle Award from The Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain (DSWA).
