Cutting, A86
The A86 in the east, around Strath Mashie is a twisty road which can be quite challenging. Once past Aberarder the character changes, and it has been rebuilt to a high standard.
Very few roads travel East West in the central Highlands. In the 1970's there was an idea to build a railway through here, to allow the transport of timber and to supply oil fabrication materials. It would have also allowed the closure of much of the West Highland railway, with everything coming over Drumochter.
Various metamorphic rocks that make up the Corriearder range of hills are exposed here at the foot of Creag Meagaidh.
