SS6692 : Pumphouse Quay, Swansea

taken 6 years ago, near to Swansea/Abertawe, Great Britain

Pumphouse Quay, Swansea
Pumphouse Quay, Swansea
This is a modern stone plaque on a wall in the redeveloped dock area of Swansea and is alongside an old hydraulic pump house that is now a public house. This representation of a stationary steam engine of inverted pendulous type appears to be 'lifted' pretty much from Ernst Alban's work - Alban on the High Pressure Steam Engine (1848). There is a further interesting plaque of another stationary steam engine on the pump house itself.
