The eight ton granite sculpture of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party from Lewis Carroll’s “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” is in the market square, near the old fish market. The sculpture, designed by Edwin Russell, was unveiled in 1984 by HRH the late Princess Diana (photo at Warrington Digital Image Archive Link
) on a visit to the town with HRH Prince Charles.
