This bench mark is on an old sandstone gatepost alongside Mersey Road. At one time the gateway seems to have been the 'Tradesman's entrance' to a large house called 'The Beach', however, that house had been demolished by the time of the 1927 O.S. map. See also SJ3885 : Mersey Road and a bench mark
