Drummond Street
Drummond Street
The street follows the line of the old town wall between Old College and the Pleasance. Once a quiet lane known as as Thieves Raw (i.e. Row), it was much frequented by undesirables likely to fall upon a gentleman. The block with the dormer window at the north end of Roxburgh Street was Edinburgh's first picture house, The Roxburgh, towards the end of the 19th century.
