Medieval Exe bridge
Medieval Exe bridge
This bridge once had 17 arches, and a chapel at each end. Built by a wealthy merchant & his son in the early 1200s. The picture is taken with my back to the River Exe, approximately 30 yards behind me. The river used to be much wider than it is today.
