Benchmark on slatehung ruin
Benchmark on slatehung ruin
One of the old Ordnance Survey levelling benchmarks can be seen here cut into the wall of the ruined house of Capel farm SM9937 : Ruined farm with Mynydd Dinas beyond. The front of the house was slate-hung, an old building technique that one still sees occasionally in this area and was presumably a defence against the penetrating rain.
