Kildrummy Castle
Kildrummy Castle
The great 13th century castle of Kildrummy was a stronghold of the Earls of Mar, dominating Strathdon. It was occupied by Edward I of England, and was for a time held by the Elphinstones before reverting to the Earls of Mar. Its last significant role was in 1715, when John Erskine of Mar held it for the Jacobite cause.
