Upper Nedd Fechan valley
Upper Nedd Fechan valley
One of many waterlogged areas on the southern slope of the Brecon Beacons' escarpment, this area feeds water into the spectacular 'Waterfall Country' that lies further south. The dominant vegetation is tussocks of purple moor grass (tough walking, even with long legs). The moist air blowing in from the Bristol Channel to the south has been forced by the hills to rise, causing cooling, condensation and a level cloudbase at around 700 metres.
