SN9017 : Meandering course of the upper Nedd Fechan
near to Nant-y-Moch [water Feature], Powys, Great Britain

Meandering course of the upper Nedd Fechan
Proof that meanders are not only found on the lower reaches of rivers. The gentle gradient here is soon compensated by the precipitous drops of a series of spectacular waterfalls a few kilometres further downstream. The purple moor grass in the foreground gives rise to the hillwalkers' phrase for crossing such territory:'tussock-bashing'. The square enclosure and long wall beyond it are built from a dark local limestone dug from numerous quarries such as the one shown in the geograph for grid square 9015.
