NT6087 : St Baldred's Chapel

3 km from Auldhame, East Lothian, Great Britain

St Baldred's Chapel
St Baldred's Chapel
Or rather the ruins of St Baldred's Chapel, now open to the skies and abandoned to the Gannets and a few brave Herring Gulls. The chain is the limit of the area which visitors are permitted to enter - most of the Rock is strictly out of bounds in the breeding season. The bird at lower left, the one on top of the nearer wall and the ones along the far wall all have chicks. In the distance, almost behind the right-hand gable, is North Berwick Law which, like the Bass Rock, is the plug of an extinct volcano.
