Geograph - photograph every grid square

hello
my late father worked as a lineman from the now dismantled signal box on this site
from 1952 until his retirement , during this time and my many visits to him in the
box I never heard it refered to as the Pig Station , however , it was the siding into
which the train loads of racing pigeons were shunted for release , a spectacular
site , thousands of birds were released simultaneously , literally darkening the
sky .
