The Belfast Road near Larne (3)
The view, towards Belfast, on the south western side of the Ballyrickard Road, approaching the end of the existing single carriageway. Many of the trees will have to be removed to accommodate the new road.
Proposed dual carriageway to Larne
One 1 May 2012 the Minister for Regional Development announced that the rebuilding of the remaining stretch single carriageway on the Belfast – Larne Road had been approved. It involves nine miles “of new dual carriageway from Coleman’s Corner Roundabout to Ballyrickard Road. Work on the dual carriageway is expected to start in June this year and take two and a half years to complete”. Most of the proposed route will follow the existing alignment. One main exception being at Ballynure where it will bypass the village on the western side.
The photographs submitted by me appear as a matter of neutral record only. I have no connection with the Roads Service or the contractors and express no opinions, for or against, the proposal. The captions are based on my reading of the official scheme map and might not always be accurate.
