Greedy Gut from Chalk Bank
Greedy Gut from Chalk Bank
Greedy Gut, seen here at low tide in January. Greedy Gut is a channel of water just slightly deeper than the mudflats surrounding it leading to a stony bank off Spurn peninsula known as Old Den. Here, just off Chalk Bank on the northwest side of Spurn, the ground is only broken up by erosion during tidal surges combined with strong westerly winds. At all other times sand and silt is deposited here from erosion on the seaward side.
