Transept Organ, Worcester Cathedral
If I believe correctly, only a part of this organ is functional. There are plans to develop it in the future.
Organs in Worcester Cathedral
Organs in the Cathedral date back to around 1417, and in 1613 Thomas Dallam built a new organ for £211 when Thomas Tomkins was organist. It was located on the choir screen with Chaire and Great manuals. The organ was damaged in the civil war, and a new organ was built in 1666 by Thomas Harris. Various improvements followed by William Hill, and it was rebuilt in 1874 retaining pipes from the previous instruments. The case was by Gilbert Scott and it was situated in the north choir aisle. By then it had 3 manuals and pedals.
Nicholson & Co. built a new organ in 1887, the "Festival Organ", which was later transferred elsewhere. There was also a "Quire and Transept Organ" built in 1896 by Robert Hope-Jones and rebuilt by Harrison in 1925. This was further updated in 1972 and 1978. There is also a 4-manual organ in the South Transept built in 1874 by Wm Hill & Son.
Finally, in 2008, Kenneth Tickell & Co. built a new organ in the north and south triforium of 4 manuals and pedals with 57 stops. There are 2 remote consoles.
There is also a small Continuo organ and an older chamber organ dating back to 1774 known as the Handel Organ.
