At the British Wildlife Centre, Newchapel, Surrey, 'Jake' the otter has finally gained the confidence to venture out in public. It's taken four weeks, whereas his brother 'Elwood' was out in as many days.

With some calling and waving, the photographer managed to entice 'Jake' onto the grass near the front of his enclosure. The Keeper's talk, in the adjoining enclosure, probably helped.
