Brympton D'Evercy House
Brympton D'Evercy House
The daughter of John Stourton was given this beautiful C15 manor house by her father using it as a dowry on the occasion of her marriage to John Sydenham in 1434. The Sydenham family remained the owners until 1731 when it was sold to Francis Fane, a barrister and MP. After nearly 300 years with this family and their descendants, that included a short spell when it was open to the public, it was finally sold to a private buyer in 1992. As well as a private home, it is now an exclusive country house wedding and reception venue LinkExternal link .
