Memorial to Lord Henry Marney, Layer Marney Church
Memorial to Lord Henry Marney, Layer Marney Church
Lord Henry Marney started the building of the Tudor manor house and this church, but never lived to see its completion. This responsibility was taken over by his son John who sadly also died just two years later. Lord Henry died in the year 1523 and is shown as a figure in black marble lying on a white tombchest with an ornate terracotta canopy above. Father and son rest near one another for eternity.
