This pond, high up on the Clwydian Range, is adjacent to the old drove road just before it crosses the ridge. I wonder, therefore, if it may have been man-made many years ago to water the cattle before they started their descent into the valleys? The photo is taken from the wall line just inside the square, and the prominent cairn on the skyline is also in the square at SJ150632.
