Remains of St Piran's Old Church
Remains of St Piran's Old Church
This church was built as a replacement for St Pirans Oratory which disappeared into the sand dunes in the 10th century. The church survived until the sand finally started to engulf it in 1804. Much of the fabric of the church was moved miles inland to be rebuilt as part of Perranzabuloe Church SW7752 : Perranzabuloe Church.
This photograph was taken before the recent excavation of the site in 2005.
