Following the banking crisis of 2008 Bradford & Bingley plc became part of Santander UK plc. The Chichester Street branch has been closed and amalgamated with other branches nearby. There are now applications for planning permission (nos 0950/LBC and 0952/F) for change of use of from a bank to a coffee house/coffee shop. Nos 2-4 Chichester Street, Belfast
A small building, at the corner of Chichester Street and Callender Street, built in 1894 to s design by Samuel Stevenson. For many years occupied by Payne’s merchant and ladies' tailor. Reputedly the first building in Belfast lit by electricity it was, in more recent times, the offices of the Bradford and Bingley.
