Southerham Bridge
Southerham Bridge
Carrying the Lewes to Eastbourne railway over the River Ouse. The line opened in 1846 though the current bridge dates from the early 1980s having replaced an older swing bridge that could be opened to allow navigable traffic to and from Lewes. The last traffic of any note was from Eastwoods Cement Works whose former wharf is where the image was taken from.
