NH5240 : Lowerbog chambered cairn

taken 5 years ago, near to Camault Muir, Highland, Great Britain

Lowerbog chambered cairn
Lowerbog chambered cairn
These boulders are the ruins of chambered cairn, probably Orkney-Cromarty type. Only a few of the stones are still upright, most of the cairn material has been long since removed. It is a scheduled monument, see the Highland Council Historic Environment Record: LinkExternal link

This is in beech woodland, beside the Bog Road. A small path runs past the cairn, it looks like this has been used by mountain bikers.
