The Leigh Woods side of Clifton Suspension Bridge
The Leigh Woods side of Clifton Suspension Bridge
The entrance to a tunnel can be seen below the bridge abutment - this is on the Portishead Railway LinkExternal link . Reopened in 2002 for freight traffic, the line currently goes from Bristol to Portbury Docks.
The slope to the right of the tunnel, painted bright turquoise, is visible from nearly 1km back along the river. It is a much graffitied spot, a photo taken from ground level in 2007 shows a less obtrusive example ST5673 : Cycle path and railway line under the Suspension Bridge .
