New Walk Centre, Welford Road, Leicester
New Walk Centre, Welford Road, Leicester
A large complex consisting of two curved concrete blocks facing away from each other with the result that there is a somewhat desultory patch of open space between them. Given the building's height, apart from high noon during the summer it must constantly be in the shade. Built 1971-75 to the designs of Newman, Levinson & Partners.
It is now Leicester City Council's main building. It doesn't look very civic because it was a speculative development.
