Butterbur or "bog rhubarb" (petasites hybridus) is the only sign that this is a river bed.
It can be seen running past the back of Beeston Tor Farmhouse

However I was intrigued to see
SK1053 : River crossing below Beeston Tor, which shows the stepping stones near the back of the house, but with the river flowing. The river only runs through here when levels are very high, otherwise the water disappears into the underground limestone caverns through a hole further upstream.
I spent many happy holidays there in a caravan on the bank with my parents in the 1960's. One day I was at peeling potatoes with my mum on the dry riverbed when there was a sudden shout: "The water's coming!" It bore down on us without warning, swirling and seething in a wave.
