TF3694 : Poulton Drain Tunnel

taken 17 years ago, near to Yarburgh, Lincolnshire, England

Poulton Drain Tunnel
Poulton Drain Tunnel
This is the tunnel through which Poulton Drain (aka Covenham Beck) enters the disused Louth Navigation.
See: TF3694 : Poulton Drain tunnel, Austen Fenand TF3694 : Poulton Drain tunnel, Austen Fen, 2007 Floods. The first shows the tunnel when the water levels are normal. But a sign over the top warns against entering. The second picture shows the entrance to the tunnel submerged during the 2007 floods.
We did a risk assessment, decided the water was low enough and proceeded up the drain for a short distance. The joys of a small rowing boat!
