The front part was once the Assembly Rooms [where "gentry" from the country and town could meet and socialise (LinkExternal link )] and the concert hall to the rear was added in 1859. All types of concerts from classical to pop take place most evenings. The very busy box junction of Union Street, Crown Street and North Silver Street is in the forerground.
