View SE, towards Appleby, Settle and the South: ex-Midland Settle - Carlisle main line. The station - probably actually behind the camera! - had disappeared since closed from 7/4/52, but the celebrated line has survived and seen a resurgence. The Pennine range, which it penetrated, is visible on the left horizon.
