Cheshire: The 'Cat and Fiddle' public house
Right on the Cheshire-Staffordshire border, but just inside Cheshire on the A537 Buxton to Macclesfield road, and at an elevation of well over 1600 ft OD, stands this lonely house. Some years ago, the A537 was named as Britain's most dangerous road, but it lost this 'title' to the A682, Nelson to Gisburn. For my money, the A537 with its seemingly endless succession of tight bends, is by far the worse.
