Beach protection
Beach protection
The A716 to Drummore runs around Kilstay Bay atop a high sea wall to counteract serious erosion of the raised beach platform. This makes access to the modern beach rather difficult, but when successful it is obvious that the remains of an earlier wall have been dumped on the shore to bolster the defences. Large erratic boulders, recognisable from a rounded profile, are also present.
