NO4898 : Dark Mullein (Verbascum nigrum)

taken 12 years ago, near to Heugh-Head, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Dark Mullein (Verbascum nigrum)
Dark Mullein (Verbascum nigrum)
The tall yellow spikes with dark ridged stems are unmistakably Dark Mullein, which, according to Fitter, Fitter and Blamey does not occur within 100 miles of here. However the Botanical Society of the British Isles does have a scattering of records in recent decades. For a detailed view of the flowers see NO4898 : Dark Mullein (Verbascum nigrum).
