Fence across the moor
Fence across the moor
This fence across wet moorland at Cocker Top marks several boundaries. It is an indistinct watershed between streams heading left towards the Tees river system and those to the right which reach the Swale and Ouse. It also marks the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and [since 1974] the boundary between County Durham [left] and North Yorkshire [right], but any true Tyke will be quick to point out that virtually everything that can be seen from here belongs to the North Riding despite what bureaucrats may say.
