Arcelormittal Orbit tower and stadium floodlights
Arcelormittal Orbit tower and stadium floodlights, taken 5 years ago
View from inside the stadium showing the top loop of the Orbit and one of the triangular towers of floodlights. The Orbit is a 377 foot high sculpture designed by Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond. There are 532 floodlights in 14 towers, giving enough light for high definition television - and digital cameras. Also visible are some of the wires across the stadium, used for TV cameras, and for flying performers during the opening and closing ceremonies.
