NO0353 : A new forest

taken 13 years ago, 4 km from Tulliemet, Perth And Kinross, Great Britain

A new forest.
A new forest.
A large part of the Atholl land has been planted with native trees mainly Scots Pine (Pinus silvestris). Almost all of this square has been planted. Looking east to Creag nam Mial.

Many of the trees failed to survive. Judging by the size of the standing deadwood, they died around 2010, a year of two extreme Winters. The survivors are a fair size now, and fortunately enough trees have made it to make a difference to the landscape.
