SK5612 : Rothley Station

near to Cropston, Leicestershire, Great Britain

Rothley Station
Rothley Station
Rothley Station dates from 1899 when it was opened as an intermediate station on the Great Central Railway's London extension. In common with many of the smaller stations on the line it closed in March 1963, although passenger trains continued to run through here until 1969. It was reopened in 1976 as part of the Great Central Railway, a heritage operation between Loughborough and Leicester North. It is nowadays in pristine condition and has more facilities than it ever did as a main line station.
