SV8606 : Melledgan

taken 6 years ago, 3 km from St Agnes, Isles of Scilly, Great Britain

One of the few Western Rocks that perhaps could be called an island. There is sufficient area above the high water mark to support some vegetation. As with all the non-cultivated open ground in the islands it is managed by the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust (formerly EnvironmentalTrust); landing is not permitted at any time.

The phonetic spelling for the local pronunciation would be something like meligeun (with the emphasis on the second syllable - rhyming with religion).
