The main pit of the Ffridd Glyn Quarry
The main pit of the Ffridd Glyn Quarry
This quarry, also known as the Cambrian Quarry, consisted of several pits. This, the biggest, is the upper pit. It, and an adjoining pit were used by the MOD for the disposal of surplus WWII bombs. The two are surrounded by wire fences which by today are in a dilapidated state. The quarry and a number of smaller concerns nearby were taken over by the owners of Cefn-du Quarry in 1878. They were then linked by a tramway to the Ffridd Incline.
