NR8671 : Griselinia littoralis
3 km from Tarbert, Argyll And Bute, Great Britain

Griselinia littoralis
The gardens of Stonefield Castle Hotel contain a number of rare and interesting trees, besides the second largest collection of rhododendrons after Kew Gardens in London, with 136 different species. This is a specimen of a tree from New Zealand, Griselinia littoralis, the common name of which is Kapuka or New Zealand Broadleaf. Its preference for a mild oceanic climate and tolerance of salt-laden gales makes it highly suitable for the west of Scotland.
